"Autism Connections has made a meaningful difference for my family during a time of major transition. After moving from another province at the height of COVID lockdowns, and as a military family, we were navigating a lot of uncertainty - especially without a specific ILP in place and no social circle to speak of. Your support helped us find our footing, access the right resources, and feel less alone in the process.

Our child has also benefited so much from attending the programming at ACF. She’s built genuine friendships with peers who understand and support her, and it’s been incredibly meaningful to see her confidence grow in that environment. Just as importantly, we’ve found connection as parents too - meeting others who truly understand our experiences has made a lasting impact on our whole family.

The guidance, community, and care we’ve received have helped us move forward with more confidence and stability. We’re very grateful to be part of this community.

"I wanted to take a moment to share our family's journey and how much the support from your centre has meant to us over the years.

My son has been attending and using the services at the centre since he started school. We've participated in camps, social skills programs, sports events, Autism walks, Santa drive-bys, and more. Through all of these activities, he was able to participate in things that I wasn't sure he would, and he felt welcomed to be himself. This nurturing environment helped him grow into the wonderful person he is today. Autism Connections not only supported my son but also mentored him, showing him that he can achieve his goals just like any other child or youth, with the right supports and interventions.

He had the opportunity to volunteer and work at Camp Marvel, and he was then selected as a CIT at Camp Rotary. Thanks to all this support, he is now 17 and heading into his second summer with a full-time job out west, where he has family. He’ll be working as a one-on-one support worker at an Autism day camp all summer, earning equal wages as a full employee. This is what your centre has done for us - it has given my child the opportunity to succeed.

We also have a 5-year-old, although not with Autism but with FASD. He is able to enroll in your No Limits Soccer for a second year, learning and playing in a safe space where he can be himself and be supported. The programs and support that your centre has offered our family have been beyond amazing, and we are so grateful!

"We were introduced to Autism Connections recently through the First Tee Golf program. The staff have been incredibly supportive—especially Laura, who made us feel welcomed right away. Through the program, my son discovered a genuine interest in golf and had a wonderful time participating.

We’re now looking forward to joining the No Limits Soccer program, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. We’re also very grateful for the passes provided to attend shows at the Playhouse—we’ve attended three so far and truly enjoyed each experience. The newsletter has also been a valuable source of information and connection.

Autism Connections has given us a sense of reassurance that we’re not alone, and that means a great deal. Thank you for all that you do to support and uplift families in the community.

"I just wanted to share how grateful we are for the No Limits Soccer program. I have two children participating this season, and it’s been such a positive experience for both of them.

What really stands out to me is how welcoming and non-judgmental the environment is. It truly feels like a safe space where kids can be themselves, try something new, and grow at their own pace. There’s a great balance between structure and freedom. The sessions aren’t overly rigid, which allows the kids to explore and learn in their own way, but the coaches still do a fantastic job keeping them engaged and supported throughout.

It’s been wonderful to see my kids building friendships, gaining confidence, and developing new skills in such a fun and encouraging setting. Programs like this are so important, and we really appreciate the effort that goes into making it such a special experience." - Kristen
