Spares & Strikes for Autism

CAMPAIGN 2024

Each year we host a fund raiser to support the operations of our autism resource centre, Autism Connections. The goal of the fund raiser is $20,000! This money will support numerous programs and activities offered to over 300 families in our area. This fund raiser is a bowling event in which up to 12 teams will compete for prizes and glory at a competition held on Sunday, November 24th at the DROME, a local bowling alley. Last year we raised more than our target of $20,000 with a grand total of $30, 050. Thank you to all our generous supporters for your passionate support of our centre and our mission.

Who Are We?

At Autism Connections, we are more than a resource center—we are a hub of support and empowerment for families across the Greater Fredericton and Oromocto communities. Our mission is to provide essential, reliable information on autism diagnosis, assessment, intervention, and life skills, helping families navigate their journey with confidence.

But we don’t stop there. We offer a wide array of personalized programs for individuals of all ages, focusing on skill acquisition, behavioural support, and social growth. From summer camps and after-school programs to tutoring and our dynamic mentorship program for young adults, we tailor our services to meet the unique needs of each person.

Connection and community are at the heart of everything we do. We create safe, welcoming spaces where individuals with autism can thrive—whether it's at our teen nights, sibling meetups, or adult gatherings. Parents also find vital support through our education sessions and workshops, designed to uplift families as a whole.

And we love to celebrate! Families can enjoy inclusive, fun-filled events like our Drive-By SantaSuperHero Walk, and engaging recreational opportunities through No Limits Soccer and Neurodivergent Hockey—ensuring everyone has a chance to play.

At Autism Connections, our goal is simple: to build a network of support. We bring families together and connect them to the best services in the region. Our comprehensive online resource guide is just one way we make sure families have everything they need, right at their fingertips.

HOW DO YOU PARTICIPATE?

We aim to have up to 12 teams of 5 bowlers each. Each team will have the objective of raising a minimum of $2000 - averaging about $400 per player. If each player can get $20 donations from 20 friends, their personal goal will be achieved. Rather than going door to door, bowlers will direct their potential donors to our campaign page on the Canada Helps Web Site. You might use e-mail, text, or other social media methods (Facebook, Instagram).

Our Bowl-A-Thon web page has photos and facts and each Team has it's own link on the site so they can post their own information and photos. Prizes will be given for the 3 teams and 3 individuals that raise the most funds.

TAX RECEIPTS: We are a certified charity so we offer Tax receipts for those who donate. If you donate online tax receipts are sent immediately by e-mail upon donation by Canada Helps. For those who donate offline, official tax receipts will be mailed to you for donations of $15 or more.

You can be a Team Captain (maximum of 12 Teams) or a team member ( 4 additional persons per team) or simply pledge your support online to a team of your choosing. Whatever way you support us, we thank you for supporting people on the Autism Spectrum! Click to join any team!

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS:

If you are unable to make the Bowl-A-Thon date but still want to participate, we are offering a variety of alternative options for participation.

• Bowl at your favourite bowling alley at a date and time of your choosing. If you do take this option, then take photos and/or videos and submit them to us for posting on our web site!

• If you would prefer to stay in the comfort of you own home, then we recommend you and your team participate through an online bowling game of your choosing, either on your phone or your computer.

• If simply don't like bowling but would like to ride a bike, or walk, or play "Tidly Winks” or any other activity, you can set up a team and help us raise funds for our programs for the coming year.
